hmmm... now i would like to share what i did in the friday's practical (week 3)
i had learned how to take out relevant keywords from my research topic
i had listed the keywords and variations in my practical worksheet, the variations i found make my research area wider.
i also learned that the use of the boolean makes my research more detailed and closer to my findings.
our teacher also explained and showed us the 3 types of search facilities:
  1. search engine
  2. meta search engine
  3. subject directory
search engine find the informations directly from the web and list the relevant and possible informations as its result. That is why they are able to give us millions of results.
E.g. 1 - 10 of about 622000000 with 0.23 sec.

meta search engine showed us the informations by telling us where they get the informations from. E.g. [Found on Google, Windows Live, Yahoo! Search, Ask.com]
The result they have are 1 - 20 of 74. It is more detailed then the search engine.

subject directory has shown how they get to the keywords that i had typed in. If i type in 'coffee' as the keyword, 'shopping' will be its subject and it direct us to coffee roasters and brands.
Examples:
1 - 100 of about 14535 with 0.66 sec.
According to what teacher had said that this directory is manually done by the many professionals.

At the end of the lesson, i had learn to identify the different types of internet search facilities and the effectiveness of different internet search facilities. =)
